This is the first of what is going to be a regular blog about my previous week, from both a modelling point of view and also at The Model Experience studio in Leeds.
So the week started with a drive from Leeds over the M62, through torrential rain, to Manchester for a model shoot with Get The Label, a new client for me but at a studio i’ve worked at many times over the years. Always nice to meet and work for a new client as in this industry, when 1 door shuts, another 1 always opens. Great variety in backdrops and some cool clothing including Le Shark, Berghaus, Farah, and many more made for a fun shoot…time seemed to fly by! Oh, and great biscuits too with the coffee!!!
The following day was another model shoot which thankfully was more local, down towards Harrogate doing a shoot for a Building Society at what can only be described as a MANSION…stunning house. As model shoots go this was a nice easy day…mooching around the house, few shots, all very smily, a few in the garden and it was a glorious day too. Worked with a photographer i’d not seen in a while…neither of us could remember what the last shoot was we worked on though! This shoot was a “take as much clothing as possible” kind of day, so i even through in the steamer as its not always possible to keep everything ironed once it gets thrown in a suitcase. I got the pictures back from the shoot today, but unfortunately i’m not allowed to post them until the advert is live.
This is one of the many topics i cover on my “Become a model class” here at www.themodelexperienceuk.com/model-class, the importance of taking the correct clothing, and how imperative it is to have what the client has asked for….and they need to be clean and ironed!
Wednesday was a day editing from the family shoots, couples shoots and model portfolio shoots from the previous week (take a look at www.facebook.com/modelexperience/reviews to see what those customers said about me and the studio, and also take a look at www.facebook.com/modelexperience/photos_stream to see some of the pictures!)
Editing included the worlds cutest 5 year old as well as a new 16 year old model who came in for her first model portfolio shoot….both were total naturals, and i’m confident both will do very well with the right agencies (which i’ll be helping with).
Thursday brought another day at the studio including 2 lovely ladies, they’d been friends for 24 years, so came for a makeover shoot just to get some nice pictures together. They were a delight to shoot after Zena had done her exemplary (as always) makeup on both ladies. Then came another Teen Model Portfolio shoot, this time of a young guy who very quickly showed great potential (again i’ll be trying to sort agencies) so he can achieve his dream to become a model. Really enjoy shooting the guys as much as anything else as it alike going back 22 years to when i started, so its great to be able to pass on all my experience when it comes to posing, expressions etc.
Soon as i finished shooting it was straight to Leeds train station for a train to London for a model shoot the next day…cycling round the VERY busy streets of London for a electric bike company. No helmet, a 5am start, quick coffee and we were off cycling straight to Big Ben (needed to be there early to avoid all the commuters….not easy cycling at that time with very little sleep!). Finished the shoot then late train back to Leeds.
Saturday was back to the studio for a day of shooting mostly families, children and friends, again helped by Zena’s make up (and her consistently fine coffees!) and then actually had a day off on Sunday. Well if you class getting up early to fill a skip full of rubbish form the garage, do 3 runs to the tip etc!
So, 3 shoots as a model, and 10 as a photographer….and that was my week in words.
